mPulse’s Groundbreaking Role in AI and Behavioral Science in Healthcare

Reading Time: 5 minutes

We’re thrilled to share that mPulse has been featured in a significant piece of research published in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings: Digital Health, titled How Are Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Used in Digital Behavior Change Interventions A Scoping Review.

This recognition underscores our pioneering efforts in harnessing AI and behavioral science to create impactful health behavior change.

Our Impact in the Research

The review highlights mPulse’s innovative use of AI in digital behavior change interventions (DBCIs), emphasizing our commitment to personalized, data-driven strategies that enhance member engagement and health outcomes.

By leveraging AI, we’ve been able to tailor health communications and interventions, making them more relevant and effective for consumers served by health organizations.

Merging Behavioral Science with AI

At mPulse, we believe that effective health behavior change goes beyond just delivering information—it requires an understanding of the psychological and contextual factors influencing behavior.

Here’s how we integrate AI and behavioral science into our solutions:

  1. Personalized Messaging: Using AI, we analyze member data to deliver messages that align with individual needs and preferences, increasing the likelihood of positive behavior change.
  2. Addressing Barriers: Our AI-driven programs identify and overcome barriers to healthier behaviors, whether these are logistical, motivational, or based on misinformation.
  3. Behavioral Techniques: Through our behavioral design process, we apply proven behavioral science techniques to our interventions. By reducing friction (barriers) and increasing fuel (motivation), we help members make and sustain positive health changes.

Notable Program Use Cases

  • Chronic Disease Management: Our Health Experience & Insights (HXI) platform offers continuous, personalized support for managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, helping members adhere to treatment plans and make healthier choices.
  • Medication Adherence Program: The review also recognizes our medication adherence program, which uses conversational AI to deliver refill reminders and ensure members stay on track with their prescriptions, improving overall health outcomes.
  • Health Outcomes Survey (HOS): In our HOS program for Medicare beneficiaries, we enhance member satisfaction by first delivering value and engagement before requesting feedback, which also helps identify high-risk individuals for proactive intervention.
  • Cancer Screening Programs: Through AI-driven text messaging and engaging fotonovelas, mPulse’s program motivate members to participate in cancer screenings by addressing common barriers like fear and misinformation.

Looking Forward

Being featured in this groundbreaking research validates the innovative work we do at the intersection of AI and behavioral science.

As we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in healthcare, our goal remains clear: to make health interventions more personalized, engaging, and effective for all members.

Eden Brownell, Director of Behavioral Science at mPulse Mobile, shares her excitement: “We’re honored to be recognized by Amy Bucher and her team. This acknowledgment motivates us to keep innovating and driving impactful change in healthcare through AI and behavioral science.”

Stay tuned for more updates and insights as we continue to explore new ways to improve health outcomes through advanced technologies.
